The Miami-Dade County Commission on Ethics and Public Trust in collaboration with the Florida Atlantic University Public Procurement Research Center is hosting a conference on ethics and accountability in government procurement, contracting and purchasing decisions.  “The goal of this conference is to bring  together procurement experts and those who regularly interact with procurement processes to offer innovative approaches to ensure public resources are safeguarded by adopting procurement systems focused on the values of integrity, efficiency, effectiveness, openness and inclusion,” said Robert Meyers, Executive Director of the Ethics Commission.

Program highlights include remarks from the Honorable Rebeca Sosa, County Commissioner, Miami-Dade County, who will speak about procurement reform in Miami-Dade County and a luncheon keynote address by Anwar Sapat, Director, World Bank Anti-Corruption Unit. Many other prominent individuals from all levels of government, contractors, vendors, regulators, attorneys and academics have also agreed to speak at the conference.

The morning panels will feature discussions on depoliticizing solicitation processes, examining the need for change orders, creating an ethical environment in government procurement and evaluating the selection and monitoring techniques utilized for awarding funding to community based organizations.  The lunch roundtable will explore the future of public procurement.

Seating is limited to the first 110 registrations.  For more registration information, please contact www.fau.edu/fiog.
