The Miami-Dade Commission on Ethics and Public Trust announces the appointment of Rhonda Victor Sibilia as Community Outreach Coordinator. In this position, Sibilia will help citizens, government employees and elected officials better understand the laws regulating proper behavior for public work.
Previously, Sibilia helped start and served as senior anchor/reporter for WLRN-Miami Herald News. In addition to her earlier history in local broadcast journalism, the native South Floridian has also worked in media and public relations positions for Miami-Dade County’s Communications and Fire-Rescue Departments and for companies including VITAS Healthcare Corporation and Assurant Group. Sibilia lives in West Kendall.
“We’re looking forward to tapping Rhonda’s communication skills to help inform all stakeholders about the role of this office and the role everyone plays in ensuring accountability and transparency in local government,” said Robert Meyers, executive director of the Ethics Commission. “Her connections with local media, community groups and private corporations can help spread the culture of ethical behavior through expanded partnerships and training efforts.
The Ethics Commission was created in 1996 as an independent agency with advisory and quasi-judicial powers. It is composed of five members, serving staggered terms of four years each. Through a program of education and outreach, the Commission seeks to empower the community and bolster public trust.
