Roundtable Discussion of Ethics, Civility, and Effective Penalties
March 26, 2008, Miami, FL – HOT TOPIC: Roundtable Discussion of Ethics, Civility, and Effective Penalties is scheduled for Wednesday, March 26, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the United Way, Ansin Building, 3250 SW Third Avenue (free parking in garage).
The Miami-Dade County Commission on Ethics and Public Trust in collaboration with the League of Women Voters, Office of the State Attorney and University of Miami is hosting a Roundtable Discussion on Ethics, Civility, and Effective Penalties. The roundtable participants will be Robert Meyers, Director, Miami-Dade County Commission on Ethics and Public Trust, Joseph Centorino, J.D., Miami-Dade Office of State Attorney and Anita Cava, J.D., Co-Director, UM Ethics Programs. The facilitator for the event will be Judith Cannon from the League of Women Voters of Miami-Dade. The two hour roundtable discussion will discuss the important issues of ethics, civility, and effective sanctions in Miami-Dade County (refreshments will be served).

The Ethics Commission was created in 1996 as an independent agency with advisory and quasi-judicial powers. It is composed of five members, serving staggered terms of four years each. Through a program of education and outreach, the Commission seeks to empower the community and bolster public trust.
